Rangers defender Bruno Alves has told The Telegraph that he will consider his future at the club.

Alves joined Rangers in the summer transfer window and was expected to be a massive hit at the Ibrox club.

The 36-year-old central defender arrived at Ibrox with a strong reputation, having won league titles with FC Porto, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Fenerbahce.

The centre-back was also part of the Portugal team that won the European Championship in France in 2016.

Alves, though, is struggling for playing time at Rangers at the moment and has also been left out of the team under caretaker-manager Graeme Murray.

“I also respect all the other players who are fighting for the position, but I have my own ambition,” Alves told The Telegraph. “I am still playing for the national team and I need to play.

“We have a World Cup soon and I need to play and be fit. This is important for me, not just to help Rangers, but I also want to help myself to go to the World Cup.

“I like to play. If I don’t have space here or if I don’t play, I need to think about my future or about what’s going to happen next. I am happy playing.”
