Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told the Chronicle that Karl Darlow played through the pain for his side yesterday.
Darlow had been a doubt heading into the fixture, but decided that he could play through the injury and start.
That was a major boost for Newcastle, but unfortunately Darlow didn’t shine in the contest.
The Magpies stopper should have saved a shot from Raul Jimenez, which put Wolves in front.
But thankfully for Darlow his teammates bailed him out, as Jacob Murphy scored a late free-kick to secure Newcastle a point at Molineux.
And Bruce was determined not to criticise his goalkeeper after the game.
“I’ll have to have a look at it. Karl’s done well to be on the pitch,” he said.
“Most people wouldn’t with the knock he’s got.

“It looked a good strike from Jimenez from where I was. We were disappointed because we gave away a cheap free-kick and our defenders weren’t out quick enough to it.”
Despite his error, Darlow did make some excellent stops throughout the contest, as he was kept busy by Wolves’ attack.
Newcastle really need Darlow to stay fit, as they are already without first choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Bruce’s side are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Everton at St. James’ Park.
