Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has suggested to Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay a lot of money to sign Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are interested in signing Grealish and have already held talks with Championship club Villa over the transfer of the 22-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

With Villa now having new investment from Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and American businessman Wes Edens, manager Bruce has suggested that the Villans will not be forced to sell the youngster on the cheap despite having FFP issues.

Bruce told Sky Sports: “I know for a fact from the owners – new investors – anybody wanting to buy Jack Grealish will not buy him on the cheap.

“It’s only what somebody else is prepared to pay – what he’s worth. Until I have the conversation I can’t really answer the question.

“What is he worth? Who knows? [But] If we have to sell them then at least we get the right price for them and can move forward.”

Big price for Jack Grealish

Bruce’s comments suggest that Villa will not be forced into selling Grealish on the cheap due to FFP issues, meaning that Tottenham will have to pay up.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy likes a good bargain signing and is a tough negotiator, but if the Villans are determined not to sell the attacking midfielder without getting a huge transfer fee, then the North London outfit chief could be disappointed.
