Steve Bruce reveals the role son Alex played in getting John Terry to join Aston Villa.
The picture that initially sparked the John Terry to Aston Villa rumours that were proven true showed the defender alongside his brother Paul, Villa manager Steve Bruce and his son Alex, after playing golf together.
Well it now turns out that Alex Bruce was key in convincing Terry to swap West London for the Midlands this summer and sign a one-year deal with his dad’s team.

“Obviously the games of golf helped and my son trained with him,” Bruce senior told the Birmingham Mail.
“He came back and said: ‘Dad, you should see John Terry running’.
“They met up at six o’clock and trained together. He played a big part.”
Bruce junior is currently without a club himself after being released by Hull City and there were rumours that Villa would sign the 32-year-old.
These are not completely unfounded, with Steve have managed his son at Birmingham City and Hull previously, but that now seems highly unlikely with another centre-back in Terry having joined.

So it seems Alex may have negotiated himself out of a finding a new club by playing such a big role in getting the former Chelsea captain to sign for his dad.
Terry will be competing with the likes of Nathan Baker, James Chester, Tommy Elphick and Micah Richards for a place in the starting XI, while fellow central defender Chris Samba is currently training with the club as well.
