Steve Bruce has hinted to Newcastle United’s official website that he could make changes to his line-up to face Aston Villa this evening.
Newcastle ran out 3-0 winners on their return to action against Sheffield United last weekend, and they put in one of their finest performances of the season.
Bruce’s side were well worth the three points, as they took apart the Blades.
But the Newcastle boss wants to keep things fresh, and he has suggested that he could make a few tweaks to his team tonight, after his assessed the players’ fitness.
“I’m sure we’ll all look at the rotation,” Bruce said. “I’m sure most teams are using the five subs which we’re allowed, which is a sensible decision.
”(But) we’re okay, thankfully, injury-wise. We’ll see how they are again this morning and make a decision on who we make available tomorrow.
“After one game I’m sure there’ll come a time when there’s going to be change, that’s for sure; whether we have to do it tomorrow, so quickly, we’ll just assess that and see how a few people are today.”

Bruce’s selection choices may be made with one eye on Newcastle’s match against Manchester City at the weekend.
Newcastle’s win over Sheffield United effectively sealed their Premier League status for another season, so the FA Cup can become a priority.
Bruce has stated just how much he wants to deliver silverware to Newcastle, and the Magpies are now just three wins away.
Newcastle are the underdogs to beat City on Sunday, but if Bruce can keep his squad fit and fresh their chances of pulling off an upset will be increased.
