Celtic Captain Scott Brown has revealed that Rodgers will be targeting a Bhoys return to the Champions League proper.

Scott Brown has revealed to Celtic’s official website that his new manager Brendan Rodgers will be prioritising qualification to the Champions League proper next season.

The former Liverpool boss invited club captain Scott Brown to dinner at his home in London, and he discussed his plans for the new campaign after the summer interlude.

And Brown has said that the first priority for the Northern Irishman will be qualification to the Champions League, something Celtic have failed to achieved under former manager Ronny Deila.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Brown said of Rodgers that he spoke about a variety of different things.

“He spoke about a lot of things, such as responsibilities, talking on and off the park, bringing the lads as close as together as possible, making sure we have a good team morale and that we work hard on the park” Brown said.

“The main thing is to get as fit as soon as possible for the Champions League qualifiers. We need to try and get through them to reach the Champions League as that is where this club deserves to be and hopefully we will be there this season.

“It’s going to be good for us because he’s going to chop and change formations, and we’re not just going to be one-dimensional so that will be something to keep everyone on their toes.”
