Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing England’s performance against Germany.
For large portions of Monday evening’s game, England were an absolute chore to watch, there was no pace, no rhythm and no intent in the attack.
However, at 2-0 down the pressure was off and Bukayo Saka, fresh off the bench, was invited to change the game.
Saka did just that, cutting through the German defence like a hot knife through butter to assist the Mason Mount’s equaliser, and Wright summed up his performance brilliantly, stating that the youngster brought an element of chaos to the game that it so desperately needed.

Wright praises Saka
The pundit spoke about the havoc Saka caused when he came off the bench and the attitudes around the England team right now.
“Yeah, that’s exactly what it is, it was boring. You want some chaos and Saka brought the chaos against Germany. I loved the vexed Mason Mount that came as well and I like that we’re going into a tournament now with this chaotic ‘our manager isn’t good enough, why is Harry Maguire going? Why didn’t he pick Tomori!’ I like going in with this because this group can be brought together,” Wright said.
Fearless
Saka is exactly the type of player England need in a game where things aren’t going their way.
As Wright says, the winger brings an element of chaos off of the bench, and that’s because he’s absolutely fearless.
Even with a Euros final penalty miss behind him, Saka still plays with no fear no matter who he is up against.
He played against Germany at Wembley in the same way we’d expect him to approach a game down the park with a group of his friends, he was strutting his stuff, trying new things and making an impact in the attack.
Saka is an invaluable member of this England squad, and he’ll surely be a key player at the World Cup.
