Brooks Koepka has suggested that he has no interest in getting involved in the debate surrounding LIV Golf players such as Jon Rahm potentially returning to the PGA Tour.

Koepka was a trailblazer in many respects. The five-time major champion became the first big name to walk away from LIV, with his departure announced back in December.

How do you think Jon Rahm will get on at the Scottish Open?

Those who predicted that it would be the first of several dominos to fall have been proven correct. It has been a miserable few months for LIV Golf, with doubts over the league’s future beyond this year persisting.

It certainly seems that a number of players are keeping their options open.

Brooks Koepka responds to being asked about LIV players returning to other events

Bryson DeChambeau’s management team reportedly held talks with PGA Tour officials during The Masters, while the likes of Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton have agreed terms with the DP World Tour to ensure that they can play in their events.

One of those events is this week’s Scottish Open. As it is co-sanctioned, it marks the first PGA Tour-associated event that Rahm has played in since his departure for LIV Golf in December 2023.

Koepka was asked in his press conference about whether this could mark the first step back towards normality. He was also asked whether he would like to see it happen more often.

“I’m not a part of those conversations, so I don’t know,” he said.

“I don’t have an opinion either way. I’m more focused on myself. I think that’s the one thing I think I’ve learned through all of this is if I can just focus on myself and be the best golfer, best father, husband, whatever, I’m doing more than I want to do right now, and being present with them and play good golf.

“I feel like that’s all that matters to me. What happens to everybody else, I’m not so concerned with.”

Brooks Koepka is not concerned by current position in the FedEx Cup

It has been a mixed year for Koepka since his return to the PGA Tour. He has had to work his way back up the ladder having been ruled out of signature events unless he can earn his place.

There have been some promising signs. However, plenty of fans may have assumed that he would have forced his way into the signature event picture by now.

Koepka is currently 81st in the FedEx Cup standings. So he has got his work cut out to make it into the playoffs. And of course, he will want to ensure that he is in the signature events in 2027.

But Koepka insisted that he is not concerned about running out of time to secure his seat back at the game’s top table.

“It’s not going to impact anything I do. I feel like, I’ve said it multiple times, good play takes care of itself. I’ve got an opportunity to go out there and go play well this week,” he said.

“And next week is a major, so it’s a lot more opportunity to kind of move up the board, I guess, and just looking forward to that, and then hopefully kind of finish out the year pretty strong.”

Koepka has been a positive addition to the PGA Tour this year, particularly with his willingness to take the long road back towards the top.

If those on LIV are not prepared to follow his path, the PGA Tour are well within their rights to tell them they are not wanted back.
