Abraham needed just 19 minutes on Tuesday to score his first goal for England and cemented the convincing win with the fifth goal of the game as well.
Bristol City’s Tammy Abraham scored two goals for England U21s this afternoon in the squad’s 5-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The in-form striker, who currently leads the Championship as the top scorer, was selected to make his first start for England ahead of the European U21 Championship qualifier at Walsall’s Bank’s Stadium.
England’s Tammy Abraham scores their fifth goal
Abraham needed just 19 minutes to get on the score sheet and did so in spectacular fashion when a blocked shot from Tottenham’s Josh Onomah landed perfectly for him to scissor-kick into the back of the net.
After missing further goal-scoring opportunities, the 19-year-old doubled his tally midway through the second half by lifting the ball over an advancing keeper and bagging his team’s fifth goal in the convincing win for the Young Lions.
Abraham told BT Sport afterwards: “I’m over the moon to get two goals today.
“The first one I don’t really know how to describe, while the second one was a good finish.
“The boys well deserved the win today. Whatever team the manager puts out is a fantastic one; we’ve got a great togetherness and all want the same thing.”
England’s Josh Onomah and Tammy Abraham applaud fans at the end of the match
The Bristol City striker has already scored 11 goals in 13 league games for his club and this performance will have done his increasingly-impressive reputation no harm at all.
He has been instrumental in lifting Bristol into fifth place in the Championship and will rest up before heading to Cardiff with his teammates on Friday night to no doubt impress again in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
England’s Josh Onomah and Tammy Abraham celebrate at the end of the match
England had already sealed their place in the competition’s finals which will take place in Poland next year but that didn’t stop the team winning in style, with additional goals from Reading’s John Swift, Josh Onomah and Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore.
