After a change of manager at the start of the year, Bristol City have enjoyed an inconsistent 16/17 Championship season so far.

After picking up only three wins over the course of September to December in 2015, Bristol City started the year with a managerial change, bringing in Barnsley manager and former player, Lee Johnson.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Gary Johnson, the new manager got to work quickly on bringing in new players for Bristol City, bringing in Alex Pearce, Adam Matthews and Lee Tomlin in on loan.

The signings had an immediate impact for City, as Bristol City won 4 of their 5 games in February, including a 1-2 win against Nottingham Forest, thanks to goals from Jonathan Kodjia and Aden Flint.

Under Lee Johnson, Bristol City had rediscovered their goalscoring prowess, and went on to beat Bolton Wanderers 6-0 at home in March.

With their form firmly rediscovered, Lee Johnson led Bristol City to safety, securing an 18th place finish, and another season of Championship football.

The summer would be one full of change for Bristol City. After losing star striker Kodjia to Aston Villa, the Robins worked hard to bring in a number of players.

With their new signings in place, Bristol City enjoyed a tremendous start to the 2016/17 season, with Tammy Abraham the star of the show, bagging 10 goals in his first 22 appearances for the Robins.

However, between the 5th of November and the 31st of December, Bristol City have picked up only one win. Lee Johnson’s side will be hoping to rediscover their early season success in early 2017.
