If they manage to remain in the Championship, these players will be of great importance in City’s rebuilding scheme.
Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia and Bristol City’s Bailey Wright in action
Bailey Wright
Since arriving from Preston North End in January, the Australian centre back has shown aggression and leadership beyond his years, having already captained the Robins on several occasions. Bristol City’s problems may lie in defence, but Wright is not part of the issue.
Matty Taylor
The infamous deadline day signing from bitter rivals Rovers has scored two goals for City so far, showing that his poacher’s ability transcends divisions. His touch and desire for goal are enough to be a handful for any opposition.
Milan Djuric
Though less prolific than Taylor, January signing Djuric has proven himself to be just as useful a striking outlet. The former Cesena forward, at 6 foot 6 inches, could spark a good partnership with Taylor once Tammy Abraham returns to Chelsea.
David Cotterill
In only a few games, Cotterill has shown City what they’ve been missing for a decade. Years after leaving City, he’s returned, albeit on loan, and virtually run the team by himself. His workmanlike performances, and dead ball speciality, have already proved invaluable.

Callum O’Dowda
Though his appearances this season have been limited, Irish international O Dowda possesses skill and pace that cannot be ignored. More often than not, his lack of involvement has stemmed from his faltering defensive duties. Once he is deployed in a more comfortable position, he is sure to be a valuable outlet for the Robins.
