Leeds United were unable to sign Aden Flint or Joe Bryan from Bristol City in the summer – but Bobby Reid should be on their radar too.

Leeds United fans could justifiably claim that Samu Saiz has been the Championship’s most impressive attacking player in 2017/18.

Bristol City supporters, however, may have something to say about that. Bobby Reid has evolved from a talented prospect into one of the league’s most threatening players in 2017/18, scoring ten goals in 16 appearances in all competitions – more than the previous 149 games of his career combined.

With City sitting fourth in the Championship table, it’s no wonder that Reid is starting to turn heads. TEAMtalk report that Middlesbrough, not to mention Premier League trio Burnley, Leicester City and Brighton, have all been impressed by the 24-year-old’s matchwinning displays.

Though Leeds United themselves should also consider throwing themselves into the race for a player who would surely improve any team in the second tier right now.

The diminutive 24-year-old is a master at sniffing out space in the penalty area and being in the right place at the right time. It’s that goalscoring instinct that a toothless Leeds have missed during a run of seven defeats in eight matches – especially with Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Jay-Roy Grot yet to fully convince.

Third time lucky?

Leeds were linked with Bristol City’s defensive duo Aden Flint and Joe Bryan during the summer transfer window though the Bristol Post reported in July that the talismanic centre-half and the buccaneering left-back were both out of The Whites’ price range.

Bristol City have the option to extend Reid’s contract by 12 months but, as it stands, he will be a free agent as soon as next summer. Leeds, then, should aim to make their out-of-tune attack sing again with the signing of The Robins’ star men.
