Bristol City boss Lee Johnson claimed that every Championship team were offered Teemu Pukki before Norwich snapped him up.

Bristol city signed Rodri on a free transfer last week and the striker is set to make his debut on Wednesday against Charlton Athletic. Speaking about the Spaniard, Johnson said that he is hoping that the striker has the same impact as Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki who was also a free transfer.
Johnson claimed that every team in the Championship was offered a chance to sign Pukki, a striker who really struggled at Celtic many years ago. Norwich were the only team who took a chance and that was one of the best decisions that the club have taken in recent times.
“You’ve only got to look at the likes of Pukki, for example, who was literally sent in to every Championship side via, I’ll show you, about 100 e-mails and obviously he came in and Norwich took a chance on him and he’s done unbelievably well for Norwich,” Johnson said.

Pukki was one of the biggest reasons why the Canaries won the Championship last season. The Finn scored 30 times and provided 10 assists in all competitions and he has hit the ground running in the Premier League with six goals and two assists in nine games so far.
Robins fans will certainly be hoping that Rodri turns out to be as good as Pukki and if that was to happen, Johnson’s side should fancy their chances of making it into the playoffs, if not the top two, at the end of this season.
