Leeds United defender Luke Ayling was excellent against his former club at the weekend.

A number of Bristol City fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Luke Ayling’s performance as the former Robins defender shone in Leeds United’s important victory towards the top of the Championship.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved themselves back into the top two in the second tier as Patrick Bamford’s early goal proved to be the difference between the two sides at Ashton Gate. The three points perfectly set up what could be a season-defining week for Leeds.
One player who will be particularly pleased with the Whites’ win is Ayling, who was coming up against his former club at a time when he is looking to prove that he can rediscover his best form after a difficult few months at Elland Road.
The right-back has been an incredibly popular addition to the Leeds squad, and was arguably one of the best in his position in the season following his move from Bristol City. However, he has struggled with form and injury over the last 18 months.

But he appears to be turning a corner once again. It was his assist that allowed Bamford to slide in for the game’s only goal and he looked assured defensively throughout the contest.
And following his display, a number of City fans have questioned the club’s decision to sell Ayling in 2016, with some impressed with his performance against them. There were some criticism, but it is clear that some deem letting him go to be a big error.

Here is what some of the Bristol City fans were saying about Ayling after his display in Leeds’ win…
