The Robins boss believes there is more value for money on the continent.
Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has made some interesting comments regarding one of Leeds United’s pieces of transfer business this summer.
Leeds snapped up Kemar Roofe this summer, signing the former West Brom talent from Oxford United.

But Johnson has questioned the Yorkshire club for spending £3 million on the player, when they could have got better value for money on the continent.
“You can buy an experienced international player for that on the Continent.
“We’re seeing League Two players going for anything between £1m and £3m in this country and that is a lot of money to risk on someone who has not played in the Championship previously.
“As we’ve seen with Jonathan Kodjia, there are some very good players available in Europe and they are going to cost us a lot less.”

Of course Leeds fans will see the irony in this comment, considering that Bristol City themselves have just paid Oxford a fee of around £1 million for the services of Callum O’Dowda – as reported by the BBC.
However, it could be Johnson was not having a dig at Leeds, but rather the general fact that English-based players cost such considerable sums of money.

Leeds also know better than most that moves for players on the continent can be very hit and miss.
The club have brought in plenty of players from across the water in recent times that have failed to reach the heights the club would have expected of them.
Roofe may have come at a premium, but Leeds will be hoping that he can prove himself worthy of every penny.
