Becchio scored 86 goals for Leeds United.
Leeds United’s Elland Road ground
A special guest is due at Leeds United’s home game against Burton Albion on Saturday.
Former Whites striker Luciano Becchio took to Twitter this morning, revealing his plane ticket from Palma, Mallorca to Leeds Bradford.
The Argentine wrote: “Thank you Leeds United for the invitation .. Tomorrow everyone to watch the game.. Leeds Leeds Leeds”.
And Leeds fans have responded in numbers, many welcoming him ‘home’ and some even encouraging the 33-year-old to bring along his boots.
Here’s what they’ve been saying…
(Slight off topic, this one, but a worthwhile point nonetheless…)
Becchio spent four and a half years at Leeds, arriving at Elland Road with the club in League One.
He helped the Whites to promotion in his second season in Yorkshire and continued to excel at Championship level, prompting Norwich City to come in for him in January 2013.
Leeds United’s Luciano Becchio celebrates
The former Barcelona B striker scored 86 goals in 2019 games for Leeds in total, but struggled afterwards, turning out for Rotherham United, Club Atletico Belgrano and CD Atletico Baleares.
Leeds can climb into the Championship’s top two by bettering Ipswich Town’s result this weekend.
