Rangers will face Lyon, Sparta Prague and Brondby in Group A of the Europa League – and Gers fans on Twitter are in a confident mood after the draw was completed this morning.
Steven Gerrard’s side are the second seeds in the group and will face some tough, but winnable, away games as Rangers look to at least match last season’s qualification for the last 16.
With trips to Lyon, Brøndbyvester and Prague in the offing, Gerrard and his players will get the chance to test themselves against quality opposition in the revamped competition.
Fixtures will be confirmed soon ahead of the opening round of games on September 16 as the Gers take their place in the groups for a fourth consecutive season.
After reaching the last 16 last season, Rangers will need to top Group A to secure their place in it this term as this season’s runners-up will face teams who finished third in their Champions League group in a playoff round before the last 16.
If Gerrard’s side finish third, their European adventure won’t be over quite yet thanks to a similar pathway into the Europa Conference League knockout rounds.
Rangers fans think the Scottish champions can qualify though as they gave their immediate reaction to the draw as it was made in Turkey.
