Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter to Thomas Vermaelen’s performance for Belgium at Euro 2020 on Monday.
The 35-year-old one-time Arsenal favourite was handed a start by Roberto Martinez during their final group game of the tournament.
The number one ranked team in the world had already qualified, so from that perspective, the Belgian’s could play with a bit more ease against Finland, as they ended the evening securing a 2-0 win.
It was Vermaelen himself who opened the scoring, after a header from a corner, although it might have gone down as an own goal to Finland keeper Lukas Hradecky.
Either way, it was the former Barcelona star who helped the ball along the way.
That’s three wins from three for the Red Devils, as Arsenal fans were impressed by what they were seeing from their former player.
Vermaelen, who left the Emirates in 2014 for Barcelona in a £15 million deal (BBC Sport), impressed his former supporters.
The experienced centre-back rolled back the years and showcased that he still has plenty of quality left in the tank.
If it wasn’t for the 35-year-old’s injuries then there’s no doubt that he would have had a much better career than the one that stagnated it.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Arsenal fans reacting to Vermaelen’s performance at Euro 2020 last night:
