Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are urging Mikel Arteta to usher Mesut Ozil back into the fold in time for next season.
Not for the first time in his Arsenal career, Ozil’s future in North London is in serious doubt.
The 31-year-old didn’t kick a ball for the Gunners during Project Restart, missing the road to FA Cup glory, and was also left out of the squad for the Community Shield win over Liverpool.
Under Arteta, the former Germany international looks to have very little role to play and, if we’re honest, the North Londoners don’t appear to need him either.
Arsenal have beaten Liverpool twice, Manchester City and Chelsea without the enigmatic playmaker, which speaks volumes.
According to The Telegraph, Ozil has a whopping £15 million-a-year salary offer to join a Middle-Eastern club.
The player joined the Emirates Stadium club seven years and one day ago, and the former Real Madrid maestro sent an anniversary tweet, claiming he’d do it all again if he could in what may be a hint that he plans on staying with the Premier League club.
On his day, Ozil, who has 54 assists in 184 Premier League appearances, is a world-class footballer and some Arsenal fans on Twitter are begging their Spanish coach to bring him back for the 2020-21 campaign.
Arteta’s side kick off their season away to Fulham on September 12, but the odds of Ozil being involved remain remote at this point, it seems.
