Michael Owen has claimed that Diogo Jota has ‘gone on again’ for Liverpool this season, as he told Premier League Productions (13/02/22 at 1:50 pm).
The former striker thinks the 25-year-old, who joined from Wolves for £41 million (BBC Sport) in 2020, has been a ‘brilliant signing’ for the club.
When Liverpool put that amount of cash on the table for Jota, eyebrows were raised by a lot of people.
But, once again, those in the Anfield boardroom and Jurgen Klopp hit the nail on the head again by turning those question marks into people no longer doubting Jota’s talents.
Owen lauded the Portugal international and how much he has transformed on Merseyside.
“We knew he was a good player at Wolves, but he has gone on again,” said Owen. “It helps when you are playing with great players as well.
“He’s a very instinctive player – he scores goals in tough situations. All he needs is a yard. Brilliant signing.”

Mohamed Salah is running away with the Golden Boot this season, as the Egyptian has 16 Premier League goals to his name.
The only man who can seemingly catch him is his own teammate – Jota – and he has netted on 12 occasions this term.
It could be argued that what Jota is doing this season is perhaps going under the radar because of how ruthlessly brilliant Salah has been.
But from trying to make a name for himself at Anfield when he first arrived, Jota is now, without a doubt, one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheet.
