Paul Merson has said that Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is good enough to play for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
The former Arsenal star has named three other Newcastle players who could easily star for Manchester United.
So, what has Paul Merson said about Newcastle United players and Manchester United? Let’s take a look.
Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali could play for Manchester United
Well, Paul Merson has been listing the Newcastle United players who are good enough to play for Manchester United.
The former Arsenal star has noted that Tino Livramento, Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon could easily turn out for Manchester United.
The Sky Sports pundit has said that Sandro Tonali could also star for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Merson has noted that the £55 million (Sky Sports) Italy international midfielder is a brilliant player. He is banned at the moment.

The Sky Sports pundit made the comments while discussing Manchester United’s interest in hiring Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.
Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:31 pm, February 17, 2024): “Livramento could play for Man United. Why couldn’t he get in? Gordon a major threat on counter-attack, does better than a lot of players for them.
“The lad who has just been banned, he is a good, good player, brilliant midfield player. Botman is a top-drawer centre-half. They could easily play for Man United, they could.”
My View: Sandro Tonali is a star for Newcastle United
In my opinion, Sandro Tonali will star for Newcastle United once he is back in action.
The midfielder was playing well before he got the ban. The Italy international made five starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Eddie Howe’s side. He scored one goal in those matches.
Tonali is one of the best midfielders around who did extremely well for AC Milan and is a regular for Italy. He is 23 now and is still a young player.
