Despite the uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane, there’s actually been some good news regarding Tottenham Hotspur.
The Lilywhites are set to sign Argentina international Cristian Romero, who is in North London ahead of his £47 million move from Atalanta.
Spurs’ season begins in nine days against Premier League champions Manchester City.
But Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to have Romero available because according to The Standard, the defender does not have to quarantine.
The report claims that Romero has received both vaccinations and therefore is not permitted to self-isolate.
Here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted to this development:
Huge boost
This is a massive piece of good news for Tottenham.
Yes, they may still be without Kane for the curtain raiser, but it would – and could – have been nasty for the North Londoners if they were also lining up with Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez in central defence.
Not only are City the reigning Premier League champions, but they cruised to the title last season and are a much better side than Spurs – even with Kane up front.
But with Romero likely to be available, the hosts’ chances of an opening-weekend win increase.
