Michael Owen has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson on PremierLeague.com for his performance against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle striker has said that Alisson was “brilliant” in the match.

Liverpool have got the better of Newcastle 2-0 away from home.

Brazil international goalkeeper Alisson was superb between the posts and made a number of saves to keep the Newcastle attackers at bay.

The win has enhanced the Merseyside club’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Michael Owen on Alisson for Liverpool v Newcastle United

Owen said: “Even with 10 men, I thought they played quite well, and they had a lot of chances.

“Alisson was brilliant in the Liverpool goal. Lots for Eddie Howe to be positive about going into a big cup final next weekend.”

Reliable

In our opinion, Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is a hugely reliable player for Liverpool.

We have seen time and time again the Brazilian star making important saves or launching counter-attacks.

Liverpool did have chances to score against Newcastle, but defensively they were poor and conceded a lot of chances.

Allan Saint-Maximin was a real menace for the Liverpool defenders.

And it was often Alisson who had to come to the rescue.

Had the goalkeeper not played well between the sticks, Liverpool could have drawn or even lost the Premier League match.
