Micah Richards told the Monday Night Club that it was ‘absolutely brilliant’ that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was celebrating in front of Jose Mourinho after Manchester United’s win at Tottenham on Sunday.

Before the game, a war-of-words was exchanged between Solskjaer and the under-fire Tottenham boss, who held the Manchester United post before the ex-striker’s arrival.

Added with that, the game was littered with controversy, no more so than Edinson Cavani’s opening goal being ruled out.

Nonetheless, minutes after the full-time whistle, Solskjaer was spotted high-fiving and laughing with Luke Show, with Mourinho only meters away.

And Richards admitted that he would like to see more of that in the stadium rather than an exchange of words in the press conferences.

“It’s a bit petulant,” said Richards. “They are not coming out and saying ‘Oh, we don’t like each other’. It’s like they are doing it in press conferences when none of them are really there.

“I was seeing Ole was celebrating a little bit when he high-fived Luke Shaw right in front of Mourinho. It was absolutely brilliant.

“But we want to see that. You want to see some character. It’s the same old sometimes when the manager goes into the press and say ‘oh, I really respect him’.

“You have got to see more. I don’t mind it. You would just like to see more in the dugout rather than just in the press conferences.”

The Premier League hasn’t had a feisty clash on the touchlines for some while, and whilst Pep Guardiola and Mourinho had their drama-filled moments in Spain, it hasn’t transcended itself to England.

But with Ole still searching for a trophy at Manchester United, you can bet your bottom dollar that if he doesn’t get over the line then Mourinho will be the first to remind him about it.
