Ipswich town are among the clubs showing interest in signing Leif Davis from Leeds United, but the League One side will only pay two-thirds of the clause that Bournemouth rejected.
That’s according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who claim Ipswich have made an approach to the Whites to discuss Davis. The Portman Road natives are eager to sound out the left-back’s availability, as boss Kieran McKenna prepares for his first full campaign at the helm.

Davis has returned to Elland Road as part of Jesse Marsch’s pre-season side after spending last term on loan with Bournemouth. The deal was expected to mark the end of his spell in West Yorkshire as it had an option to become permanent, but he could not merit the switch.

Marsch prepared to give Davis a chance at Leeds amid Ipswich interest
Marsch is prepared to give Davis a chance to impress, having been sent away from Leeds by former manager Marcelo Bielsa. The 22-year-old also aims to stay put and impress back in United colours next term, and has started the summer on the right foot since returning.
Davis has left enough of a positive impression on Marsch to be included among Leeds’ pre-season tour of Australia squad. He is potentially now set to understudy Junior Firpo, with natural centre-halves Pascal Struijk and Leo Hjelde giving additional cover where needed.
Leeds have not yet entirely ruled out selling Davis amid interest from Ipswich, though, with the Newcastle-born prospect out of contract in 2023. United will consider his future at the club in the event of a concrete offer, with McKenna’s club currently mulling making a bid.

Davis value drops 33% in a year after challenging Bournemouth spell
Ipswich further only value Davis in the region of £1m, given his struggles at Bournemouth in the Championship last season. Scott Parker only fielded him 15 times for 837 minutes in all competitions, including 573 minutes over just seven starts from his 12 second-tier outings.
The Tractor Boys’ valuation is two-thirds of the option Bournemouth and Leeds agreed for Davis last summer. Whites director of football Victor Orta let the Cherries obtain a £1.5m clause. Yet despite Parker hailing Davis as ‘brilliant’, his lack of game time ensured he left.
