Leeds fan favourite Jermaine Beckford has been speaking on Sky Sports after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Despite his strong association with Leeds, the 39-year-old actually chose to heap praise on Jadon Sancho for his performance after coming off the bench, as the 22-year-old changed the game for Manchester United.
What’s the story?
Well, Beckford felt Sancho was “brilliant” after being introduced by Erik ten Hag in the 58th minute.
The man born in Ealing – who made 152 appearances for Leeds, scoring 85 goals – said: “He was brilliant. He got on the ball, he was confident on the ball, moved it really quickly.”
Any Leeds fan who watched Sancho at Borussia Dortmund will have been worried when the England international came off the bench, despite his struggles at Manchester United since joining in a £73m deal.
If there were any fears, they were justified as the Manchester United No.25 helped snatch a point for his side after Marcus Rashford made it 2-1 with an excellent header.
As WhoScored shows, Sancho registered three key passes to go with his goal, while having 35 touches of the ball.
He also made one successful tackle as his directness struck fear into the Leeds defenders.
Leeds can take heart from display against Manchester United
While many Leeds supporters will be disappointed about throwing away a 2-0 lead at Old Trafford, the fight and desire on show from a group of players who are currently managerless should fill them with hope.

Under the guidance of Michael Skubala, who is currently in charge on an interim basis, Leeds proved they have what it takes to stay in the Premier League, as they took the game to a Manchester United side who have only lost twice at home all season.
If Leeds play like that every week from now until the end of the season, they will be just fine.
