Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to heap praise on Joe Gelhardt, in response to Goal‘s feature on the 19-year-old Leeds wonderkid.
What’s the story?
Well, the Sky Sports pundit is a big fan of the Leeds teenager.
Gelhardt has only ever made one appearance under Marcelo Bielsa, which came in the recent Carabao Cup win over Fulham.
The former Wigan striker – who Leeds paid £1.6m for – scored his penalty as Leeds earned victory in the shootout, confidently smashing his effort down the middle.
By all accounts, Gelhardt has the potential to become a superstar.
You can see Carragher’s three-word tweet about Gelhardt in full below.
Goal describe him as the second coming of Wayne Rooney in their feature, if you were wondering what type of player the Liverpool-born striker is.
Joe Gelhardt deserves chances at Leeds

In our view, it’s time for Bielsa to play Gelhardt more often.
Patrick Bamford only has one goal so far this season, in what has been a stuttering campaign so far with a few injuries involves as well.
Elsewhere, Rodrigo is yet to find his scoring touch, so why not throw Gelhardt in after all his hard work at Thorp Arch?
As Goal mention, the forward has shed plenty of weight since arriving in Yorkshire, in a bid to get fit enough for Bielsa’s intense style of football.

Gelhardt is clearly working hard, and the natural talent is there for all to see.
He has scored six goals in six Premier League 2 appearances so far this season, while also providing one assist.
It comes after Gelhardt also scored 11 goals in 16 Premier League 2 outings last term – he certainly knows where the net is.
In our view, it’s time for Bielsa to give him a deserved Premier League debut.
