Paul Robinson has paid tribute to the ‘brilliant’ Aaron Ramsdale for his save to help Arsenal today.

There were a lot of eyebrows raised over how much Arsenal were paying for a goalkeeper with a number of relegations on his CV.

But as he proved last season, the former Sheffield United stopper is an exceptional player.

And he showed the same at Elland Road today.

Arsenal edged out Leeds United in West Yorkshire and the hosts would’ve went ahead on 21 minutes if not for Ramsdale, who produced a stunning instinctive stop to prevent the ball reaching the back of the net following a scramble.

Robinson knows a thing or two about quality goalkeeping.

And here’s what he said about the Arsenal player during his co-commentary.

He said on Optus Sport: “This is the Ramsdale save at the other end. Match-winning save from the goalkeeper. Brilliant. His team nearly went to the other end and scored. That’s how important it could’ve been. Fantastic.”

As Robinson mentioned, Gabriel Jesus almost opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta’s side moments later.

And that right there would’ve summed up just how important it is to have a brilliant goalkeeper between the sticks.

It makes such an enormous difference and so long as Arsenal – who are top of the Premier League standings – have Ramsdale on this form, who knows how far they can go this season?
