Alfie Devine enhanced his reputation in a big, big way for Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
During an FA Cup third-round tie against Marine, the 16-year-old came off the bench to become the youngest player ever to appear for Spurs in a competitive game.
Not only that, but Devine, who joined Tottenham for Wigan, also marked the occasion with a goal against the eighth-tier outfit.
It looks like big things await the teenage starlet and club legend Graham Roberts has described him as a ‘brilliant, brilliant player’.
He told Spurs Web on YouTube: “You’ve got the young kid who came on and scored against Marine. He’s a brilliant, brilliant player. He’s 16 years old. When have we ever played a 16-year-old in a game? Never!”
Tottenham are back in FA Cup action on Monday night against Wycombe Wanderers and it’ll be interesting to see if Devine is involved again.
Jose Mourinho revealed that he brought him back down to earth last week by sending him back to the academy, so it’s possible that the Portuguese coach will exclude him from the travelling squad.
But still, Devine has such a bright future and it’s so exciting to see how much he develops over the coming years.
