Chris Sutton has praised Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo on BBC Sport, and has said that he proved himself against Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend.

The former Chelsea striker has noted that Gakpo proved against Manchester United that he is a brilliant finisher.

The 23-year-old Netherlands international forward scored two goals for Liverpool against the Red Devils.

Liverpool won the Premier League match against Manchester United 7-0.

Sutton wrote: “The most important aspects of Sunday were the performances of Cody Gakpo, who showed what a brilliant finisher he is, and Darwin Nunez, who has had a difficult season and has not always taken his chances.”

Exciting

In our view, Cody Gakpo is a very good and promising young forward who has already shown at Liverpool what he is capable of.

The 23-year-old Netherlands international joined the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners only in January 2023.

Gakpo has scored four goals in seven Premier League starts for the Merseyside club so far this campaign.

The forward has done well in some games, and it seems that he is starting to find his feet in the Premier League.

The Dutchman is only 23 and moved to Liverpool just a few weeks ago.

So, we have to be patient with Gakpo and not expect too much from him right now.
