Liverpool prospect Vitezslav Jaros was the hero, as St Patrick’s won the FAI Cup final against Bohemians.
Hero in the making
The young Liverpool goalkeeper was sent out on loan at the start of the season, and he played a starring role as St Pat’s lifted the trophy yesterday.
He first made two brilliant saves in injury time, before leading his side to victory in penalties – after a 1-1 draw.
His manager Stephen O’Donnell could hardly have been more complimentary of the 20-year-old after the game either, in comments which will surely delight Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s plain to see that he (Jaros) will play at a higher level,” he told the Irish media.
“I’ve played with a few good keepers across channel who had come on loan to Scotland, he’s the best 20 year old I’ve ever come across or been involved with regards football, as a goalkeeper.
“He makes big saves, he’s so composed, the occasion doesn’t get to him. If you didn’t know his age you would think he was 27 or 28.
“He thinks like a man, acts like a man and he’s just a brilliant keeper.”
Making the grade at Anfield
Now, whether Jaros will make the grade at Liverpool remains to be seen.
But his current excellent performances on his loan spell must be being noted by Klopp.
Liverpool will surely be delighted that he is thriving in the pressure of a cup final at such a young age.

It will now be interesting to see what Liverpool plan for Jaros when his loan ends.
It’s probably safe to say that he won’t be taking Alisson’s starting place any time soon.
However, whether he could dislodge the likes of Caoimhin Keller or Adrian remains to be seen.
