Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Manchester City announced that Kevin De Bruyne had signed a new four-year contract.
The 29-year-old’s new deal will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2025, and is a reward for his unbelievable displays.
De Bruyne has arguably become Europe’s best midfielder under Pep Guardiola, and this extension is fantastic for the Citizens.
After hearing the news, Lineker took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
Guardiola could sign Bruno Fernandes, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Håland this summer, and none of them would be as good a signing as this one.
De Bruyne is bang in the middle of his prime, and if Manchester City want to keep picking up silverware, it was imperative to keep him around.

The 80-cap Belgium international has become a leader in Manchester, wearing the armband on numerous occasions this season when Fernandinho has been absent.
In 33 appearances, De Bruyne has scored eight goals while also recording 16 assists.

Without a doubt, these are world class numbers when it comes to goal involvements.
It may have been questioned at the time, but that £55 million investment back in 2015 is looking shrewder by the day.
