Brighton have been linked with Cardiff’s Kenneth Zohore and after another poor attacking display against Leicester they need to complete the deal soon.

Brighton and Hove Albion are yet to score a Premier League goal in 2017/18 after two matches that has seen the newly promoted side on the end of two 2-0 defeats.

In fact the Seagulls have managed just four shots on target during their first season back in the top flight since 1983 and as many teams have found out in the past, the lack of a regular goalscorer can be the difference between relegation and staying up.

It is perhaps too early to make sweeping judgements about Brighton’s campaign, but while their opening day loss to Manchester City could be considered a free swing and a worthy effort, their second attempt at Leicester City exposed some more worrying issues in attack.

Glenn Murray lead the line against the Foxes but in truth the 33-year-old now looks out of his depth in the top flight and with Sam Baldock and Tomer Hemed the only other options, a new striker is needed before the transfer window closes.

According to the Brighton Argus that man is Kenneth Zohore, with a seven-figure bid said to have been submitted for the Cardiff City forward.

However, reports from elsewhere that the Bluebirds had accepted a £10m offer plus Hemed for Zohore were rubbished by Cardiff Chief executive Ken Choo, who told Wales Online they were “complete nonsense”.

That said there is clearly interest from the East Sussex outfit in the 23-year-old, who has greatly impressed under Neil Warnock over the past few months scoring 13 goals in 25 Championship matches since Boxing Day 2016.

The Denmark Under-21 international may not have Premier League experience as yet, but with pace, strength and great potential, Zohore would almost certainly be an improvement on the underachieving options manager Chris Hughton currently has in attack at the Amex Stadium.
