The Brighton and Hove Albion star would be a superb summer addition for Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of work to do this summer, as he looks to strengthen his squad in specific areas, in an effort to take them one step further than their second placed Premier League finish last season.

Erik Lamela is still out injured, and with no expected return date set as yet, Tottenham must be looking to add reinforcements in the attacking wide areas.

The problem for Pochettino is that he will not have unlimited funds to spend this summer, so his player recruitment will have to be smart, and he will most probably have to target players at the younger end of the age spectrum.

With this in mind, the Lilywhites should consider a move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s star man Anthony Knockaert, after the Frenchman lit up the Championship last term.

The 25-year-old would be the ideal acquisition for the north London outfit, and the left-footed star would offer great balance in the final third for Pochettino’s men, especially during the ongoing absence of Lamela.

The former Standard Liege man was sensational for Chris Hughton’s men last season, contributing 15 goals and eight assists during the Seagulls’ superb Championship campaign that eventually culminated with promotion to the Premier League.

Knockaert’s displays would have undoubtedly alerted some of the top flight’s biggest clubs, and Spurs would be the ideal destination for the Frenchman.

Pochettino is renowned for working with talented youngsters, and turning them into world-beaters – something that he would surely be capable of doing with the Brighton winger.

His direct playing style, and expert delivery would surely be a fantastic asset to the Tottenham side, and could even bring out even higher levels of productivity from Harry Kane.

Knockaert is still under contract with the Seagulls for another four years, however, so he will certainly not come cheap, but Spurs have the financial armoury to blow Brighton out of the water, should they so wish.

And if they manage to bring the Frenchman to north London this summer, it could turn out to be a hugely significant signing.
