Knockaert scored both of Brighton’s goals in a 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday.

Brighton & Hove Albion star Anthony Knockaert has sent a message of goodwill to Sheffield Wednesday’s Jack Hunt after Friday’s meeting of the two sides.

Hunt was stretchered off midway through the first half of Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat, having been caught by the studs of Brighton’s Sebastien Pocognoli in collision that looked unintentional.

The extent of Hunt’s injury is yet to be established, although the Owls right-back was later spotted leaving the Amex Stadium on crutches.

And Brighton match winner Knockaert, who scored both his side’s goals to take them back to the top of the Championship, was clearly concerned.

Knockaert, who also scored in October’s reverse fixture at Hillsborough, outfoxed Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood and three Owls defenders to put his side in front, before Lewis Dunk’s unfortunate own goal drew the visitors level before half time.

Midway through the second half, Wednesday were awarded a penalty after Glenn Loovens’ goal-bound strike was blocked by namesake Murray, although Fernando Forestieri was twice denied by David Stockdale in the Brighton goal.

With Murray red carded, Carlos Carvalhal’s men chased a winner, but Knockaert’s late tap-in left the Owls sucker-punched.

And there was no way back for the sixth-place outfit, whose evening was made worse by the dismissals of Steven Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson.
