Brighton host Newcastle United in a massive game at the top of the Championship on Tuesday night. But who will secure a vital three points that could have major implications on the race for automatic-promotion to the Premier League?

The two teams are separated by just one point at the top of the table with the Seagulls currently leading the way with 13 games to go. And that small advantage as well as the fact that Chris Hughton’s men are playing at home may be the only reason that Brighton could perhaps be considered as favourites as the two sides’ recent form is incredibly similar.

Newcastle have won three and drawn three of their last six league games while Brighton have won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six, so there is virtually nothing to pick between the two teams.

However, it must be mentioned that Brighton’s two last results, in conjunction with the Magpies’ most recent performance, suggests that the momentum is just about with the Seagulls.

Hughton’s men have beaten Barnsley and Reading – the Tykes are chasing the top six while the Royals currently occupy fifth – and have conceded a goal against neither.

Meanwhile, Rafa Benitez’s side had to come from 2-0 down to earn a point at home against a Bristol City team that sit just one place above the bottom three in the table currently.

So, it is fair to say that it is extremely difficult to pick out a clear winner ahead of Tuesday’s contest. But what result are you backing from this crucial game?
