Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly leading the race to sign Sassuolo talent Davide Frattesi, with Tottenham also in the race to land the Italian international in 2023.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Roberto De Zerbi has no rivals in the race to sign Frattesi, with Brighton also having the finances to compete with any opposition club for the 23-year-old maestro as AS Roma and Napoli also chase the Sassuolo star.

Gazzetta dello Sport have recently reported that Tottenham are also interested in signing the midfielder. However, it now appears that Brighton are the favourites to sign Frattesi, who this season has been one of the breakout talents in Serie A.

Labelled as a ‘powerhouse’ by Scouted Football, Frattesi has this year established himself as a regular in Sassuolo’s starting XI as well as make his breakthrough in the Italian national team, with Roberto Mancini looking towards the future of the squad following on from their failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

With a reported price tag of £26m, Brighton will have to break the bank to land Frattesi in January. Moreover, with the Seagulls now leading the race to sign the midfielder and in the money after the summer sales of Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella, De Zerbi has the funds to match Sassuolo’s asking price.
