Brighton and Hove Albion are in action against Liverpool today – and are wearing their away kit despite being at home against the Reds.

Graham Potter’s side have been in fairly poor form of late, losing each of their last four Premier League outings.

A clash against Liverpool is far from ideal in that kind of situation, with Jurgen Klopp’s men gunning for the Premier League title.

All eyes will be on the Reds today, but many have been left confused by Brighton’s kit choice for the game.

Despite being at home, Brighton are wearing their yellow and blue away kit, with Liverpool wearing their traditional red strip.

So why are Brighton in their away kit at home?

The reason for the change is that Brighton are wearing their home kit as a show of solidarity with Ukraine.

The Ukrainian flag is yellow and blue, so Brighton have taken this decision to show support for Ukraine in their time of need.

Russia’s attack on Ukraine has been seen around the world and Brighton have offered their support in the form of a kit change.

Whether this continues remains to be seen; Brighton also take on Tottenham in midweek and could do the same again.

Brighton did do the same against Newcastle United last weekend, though they were away in that game.

The plan was to wear their turquoise away strip for that game, but made the switch to yellow and blue amid the difficult scenes in Ukraine.

Having worn the yellow strip today too, there is every chance that Brighton keep sending this message of solidarity for weeks to come.
