Brighton & Hove Albion fans have been told what to expect from incoming manager Fabian Hurzeler as he arrives from German side St Pauli.

Roberto De Zerbi brought his 18 month spell at Brighton to an end following the conclusion of the Premier League season and 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler will replace the Italian.

As for Roberto De Zerbi, HITC understands that the Italian is set to take charge at French side Marseille after turning down overtures from Manchester United as the Red Devils were uncertain over the future of Erik ten Hag.

Brighton, as they so often do, have identified their replacement and got him early on and that is former St Pauli manager Hurzeler.

Jackson Irvine tells Brighton fans what to expect from Hurzeler

One player who will know what to expect from the German is Jackson Irvine who was the club captain of St Pauli during Hurzeler’s reign at the club.

Speaking to The Athletic, the 31-year-old has detailed exactly what fans of the Seagulls can expect next season.

“The biggest thing is just the focus on detail. He is the most detail-oriented coach I have ever had in 15 years in the game,” Irvine said.

“Everything you do, every training session, every aspect of the day, is centred on understanding the principles of the play and the specifics, details of positioning.

“It’s the same for every player. Everything is structured to go into the way you play. It really shows, because the connection the players then have on the field is the understanding of everything you do.”

Easy to see why Brighton chose Hurzeler as De Zerbi replacement

It is perhaps becoming clear why Brighton decided to take such a risk and appoint Hurzeler ahead of the new season.

The attention to detail that Irvine talks about in his interview sounds very similar to how De Zerbi was during his successful spell at the AMEX Stadium, which included an FA Cup semi-final place and Europa League football.

Transfers will be key for Brighton heading into next season but HITC understands that they could be about to lose one of their key players in Pascal Gross, as the German is attracting attention from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
