Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen snubbed a move to Brighton on Friday morning.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen saw Fernando Llorente arrive on deadline day – but that still wasn’t enough for him to decide to leave North London, as he turned down a move to Brighton.
Spurs already have arguably the Premier League’s top striker in Harry Kane, but manager Mauricio Pochettino clearly felt that he needed another option, as he landed veteran striker Llorente from Swansea on the final day of trading.
Llorente arrives as cover for Kane in attack, and that has a direct impact on the role of Janssen, who struggled to make an impact in his first campaign with Spurs last season.

The Dutch international may have scored 31 times in 49 games for AZ Alkmaar, prompting Spurs to sign him last summer, but he struggled last term, scoring just six times in all competitions – and only two of those goals came from open play.
The 23-year-old has become something of a misfit with Spurs, especially with Llorente arriving, but he still chose to stay with Tottenham despite having a late, late offer to join Brighton and Hove Albion on deadline day.
Brighton have failed to score in their three Premier League games this season, and manager Chris Hughton called on former club Spurs in the dying embers of the transfer window – but as reported by Sky Sports, Janssen rejected a last-gasp move to the Amex Stadium.

Given that the move would’ve been permanent, Janssen may not have wanted to commit his future to a team expected to battle against relegation, but that didn’t stop Brighton fans from mocking the striker on Twitter after his snub.
Seagulls fans poked fun at Janssen for preferring to be third or fourth choice whilst sitting on the bench for Tottenham, rather than playing first-team football on the South Coast.
Some claimed that Janssen thought he was too big to play for a team like Brighton, though others were glad that a deal didn’t go through in the end, as there are players who do actually want to play for the Seagulls – though with the transfer window closed, Brighton don’t have the new striker they wanted.
