Tottenham Hotspur left it late to beat Brighton on Tuesday night.
Lewis Dunk has admitted that Brighton found it very difficult against Tottenham Hotspur as they were beaten 1-0 on Tuesday night in North London.
The no-nonsense defender constantly put his body on the line during the game, but he was unable to prevent Christian Eriksen’s 89th-minute strike from outside of the area.
Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League (23/04/2019 at 9:40 pm) after the match, Dunk stated that the possession stats for the home team must have been ‘crazy’ as he admitted that his players found it tough.
“The possession must be crazy out there,” Dunk told Sky Sports PL. “The crosses they were putting in, the runs they were making. There were people everywhere! We had to be switched on, but unfortunately, it was a tough, tough 90 minutes.”
There is no doubt that Chris Hughton’s side, who are sitting three points and one place above the relegation zone, travelled to North London looking for a clean sheet.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side found the South Coast club very difficult to break down with the players relying on shots from outside the area in order to test the opposition keeper Matt Ryan.
The eventual goalscorer Eriksen, Heung-Min Son, even Danny Rose tried numerous shots from outside the area as it seemed that both teams were heading for a goalless draw.
But with one minute left on the clock, Eriksen struck his shot in a sweet manner into to the bottom corner to the disappointment of the away team whose status in England’s top-flight is not yet secured.
