Having a little more luck in front of goal could have made a big difference to each team’s seasons.

Brighton are in fourth place in the Championship, four points off the top, while Nottingham Forest are in 10th, eight points back from the play-offs.

Not all teams have been quite as unfortunate as Forest or Brighton. Wolves and Charlton Athletic have struck the woodwork on only four occasions, with play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday doing so just six times.

Brighton are just the 13th highest scoring team in the Championship, while Nottingham Forest rank in the bottom eight teams in the goals for column.

Meanwhile Sheffield Wednesday, who have hit the woodwork a third of the amount Brighton have done, are in the top three scoring teams in the division with 45 goals, behind only Burnley and Hull City.
