Brighton, Norwich and Preston goalkeepers are among the impressive free transfers available in the Championship this summer.
Preston’s Anders Lindegaard celebrates their second goal
With the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season having drawn to a close, clubs are already shaping their squads ahead of the next campaign.
Some sides have released their retained lists, while speculation remains around the future of players out-of-contract this summer.
Here are three goalkeepers that look set to be available on a free transfer.
Anders Lindegaard, Preston North End
It has been a steady decline for Lindegaard in all honesty since leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2015. A spell with West Bromwich Albion followed before being sent on-loan to Preston after playing one game for the Baggies.
The 33-year-old did enough to convince Simon Grayson to sign him permanently for this season, but after playing eight league games the Dane is off again. Lindegaard’s international and Premier League experience should still count in his favour, though.
Norwich’s John Ruddy
John Ruddy, Norwich City
After seven years and 242 appearances as the Canaries number one, Ruddy is finally leaving Carrow Road this summer after being placed on the released list.
It may come as a surprise to some that the ‘keeper is still just 30-years-old and with an England cap and plenty of top flight games to his name, should represent an attractive prospect as a free transfer.
David Stockdale of Brighton
David Stockdale, Brighton and Hove Albion
Despite finally helping Brighton to promotion and being named between the sticks in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, with Stockdale yet to sign a new contract his future at the club remains in doubt.
The Sun has suggested that Chelsea could be the 31-year-old’s next destination, pointing to posts he made on social media as evidence of his exit.
