HITC Sport understands Brighton are poised to sign the Sporting defender.
Sporting defender Ezequiel Schelotto
Brighton have agreed a deal for Sporting Lisbon defender Ezequiel Schelotto, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton is keen to strenghten his defensive options before the close of the transfer window and he has lined up a move for the Argentine-born Schelotto.
Schelotto, who can also play in midfield, joined Sporting in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer after leaving Inter Milan.
The 28-year-old spent two seasons at Inter, but struggled to make an impact at the San Siro and was loaned out to Sassuolo, Parma and Chievo during his time at Inter.

Schelotto switched his international allegiance from Argentina to Italy and he has one Italy cap to his name which came in a friendly match against England in 2012.
Schelotto has made over 40 appearances during his two seasons at Sporting, but the Portuguese club are willing to let him move this summer.
A number of English clubs have expressed an interest in Schelotto, but Brighton are in pole position to bring the right-back to the Amex Stadium.
Brighton have made a difficult start to life in the Premier League picking up just one point from their opening three games and Hughton is keen to add Schelotto experience and versatility to his squad.
