Brighton defender Connor Goldson was wanted by Leeds in 2015, and Elland Road could be an ideal place for him to relaunch his career.

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Connor Goldson is looking to relaunch his career after undergoing heart surgery, and The Argus report he could be sent out on loan.

Brighton signed Goldson in 2015 from Shrewsbury, and the centre-back quickly established himself as a quality Championship player.

That’s why it was such a shock when the 24-year-old was diagnosed with a heart condition, and he hopes now that his problems will not affect his career going forward as he seeks to bounce back.

Brighton are not short of centre-back options and he will find it tough to get back into the team in the Premier League without playing recently, which is why a Championship loan would be ideal.

HITC Sport reported in 2015 that Leeds United were attempting to sign Goldson from Shrewsbury, and had a bid turned down prior to Brighton swooping in.

Now Leeds could become one of Goldson’s best options, with the Whites needing a partner for Pontus Jansson and further cover at centre-back.

Goldson is proven in the Championship and on loan, there would be little risk for Leeds regarding his health, as opposed to worrying about making a permanent move.

It is up to the defender to show clubs he is back to his best, and really he can only do that by playing regularly. Leeds are among the top clubs in the division who would be able to offer him a first team opportunity.
