Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club named Callum McGregor as the new captain, following Scott Brown’s exit.
What’s the story?
Well, after more than a decade of Brown at Celtic Park, the Bhoys needed a new leader.
Ange Postecoglou has taken his time to name a new skipper, presumably while he assesses the leaders in Celtic’s squad.
Now, he has settled on McGregor, who is a fine choice to wear the armband, in our view.
The 28-year-old has spent his entire career in Paradise, racking up 325 appearances for the Hoops while winning six league titles.
McGregor has also won three Scottish Cups and five Scottish League Cups.
He knows Celtic like the back of his hand – Postecoglou has made a fine choice.
Big boots to fill

Brown was an immense leader, and it’s no accident that he wore the armband for as long as he did.
Now, it’s up to McGregor – who has 34 caps for Scotland – to ensure the standards don’t drop.
Under new management, and with a new captain in place, the old blueprint at Celtic Park has very much been ripped up.

As a result, McGregor must help Postecoglou to build something new, which starts with getting everyone pulling in the same direction.
We think it’s a smart call, but only time will tell if Postecoglou has made the right decision with the captaincy.
For now, let’s see what the Celtic fans on Twitter have been saying about the club’s announcement…
