Former Everton and Swansea City defender Ashley Williams has been full of praise for one Tottenham Hotspur player in particular.
The 2024 European Championships in Germany have kicked off in emphatic fashion with multiple goals and high drama matches being a staple of every match in the competition, so far.
Romania beat Ukraine 3-0 in their first game of the competition and one player, in particular, stood out and that was Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin.
Since moving to North London, Dragusin has struggled to make an impression in England and has even been linked with a move away from the club, despite only joining Tottenham in January.

Dragusin praised by Williams
Ashley Williams certainly knows what it takes to shine in an international tournament, as the Welshman was one of the best players at the tournament in 2016 with Wales reaching the semi-final.
Speaking on BBC One, following Romania’s win over Ukraine, Williams was keen to praise the Romanian defender after what has been a tough season for the defender.
“He was my man of the match,” Williams said. “I thought he was excellent. He grew and grew into the game.
“(While watching one tackle) Boom. That’s like hitting a brick wall. He was like that all game. We mentioned him before and we don’t really see enough of him in the Premier League.
“He’s got energy, we said he was good on the ball. He’s brave, he’s got first contact in his six-yard box and then he’s driving his team all of the way up the pitch. That’s not what he’s in the team for but he does have the ability to do that.”
Dragusin’s struggles
As mentioned, Ange Postecoglou brought the defender into North London from Genoa but the Romanian has struggled hugely.
Since his midseason switch, Dragusin played just nine Premier League games for the Lilywhites as he was seemingly second choice.
Nevertheless, if the Romanian has a good tournament this summer, he could finally be given the chances his performances would merit.
