The City Ground goalkeeper was one of the better Reds performers as Sabri Lamouchi’s side fell to defeat in Lancashire.

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba has taken to Twitter with a heartfelt message for the Reds fanbase following the City Ground side’s 1-0 defeat away against Wigan at the weekend.
A three-goal victory would have taken Sabri Lamouchi’s side to the top of the Championship table but they fell to defeat in Lancashire as some lacklustre defending led to Jamal Lowe netting the decisive effort from close range 10 minutes before the break.
Wigan also twice struck the woodwork through Charlie Mulgrew’s free kick and Kal Naismith’s late effort, while Rafa Mir and Lewis Grabban both missed gilt-edged opportunities for Forest, whose defeat saw them remain fourth in the Championship standings.
Samba was one of the better Forest players on the day – there wasn’t much he could do about Lowe’s goal and he pulled off several smart saves to keep his side in the game, including a fine stop against Gavin Massey and two late on in the match.
Some Forest fans rallied round to praise Samba for his efforts on the day – not to mention the season so far – and made it clear he likely prevented a heavier defeat:
Forest will look to put things right at the City Ground on Wednesday night when they host Hull City.
