Maxwell Statham was linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the year, but he has now signed professional terms with the club.

Former Spurs defender Brian Statham has confirmed on Twitter that his son, Maxwell Statham has signed his first professional deal with Tottenham, seemingly putting an end to any speculation surrounding his future.
There had been a question mark lingering over Statham’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Daily Mirror reported in March that the 18-year-old had started training with Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team, but was being pursued by a number of sides.

Norwich City, Sunderland, Brentford and Nottingham Forest all wanted the centre-back, with the Mirror reporting that the teenager was out of contract with Spurs at the end of this season.
But his father has taken to social media to confirm that he has put pen to paper on a professional contract with his current club and pay tribute to his son for the work that he has put in to earn the deal.
Here is Statham Sr’s tweet…
It will be interesting to see what Pochettino’s plans for Statham prove to be. Perhaps there is an outside chance that he could be included in a first-team matchday squad before the end of the campaign with Spurs still in pole position to secure a top four spot in the Premier League.
A win away at Bournemouth on Saturday will guarantee that they cannot be caught by either Arsenal or Manchester United. And with a potential Champions League final spot still up for grabs this term, perhaps Statham could realistically target being involved in the clash with Everton on the final day of the season.
