Hamilton Academical boss Brian Rice has told The Scottish Sun that he has been telling playmaker Lewis Smith to watch videos of Celtic star Ryan Christie.

The Accies hosted Celtic on Saturday afternoon at New Douglas Park, and fell to a 1-0 defeat as James Forrest scored an early goal for the Bhoys with proved to be the winner.

Celtic weren’t exactly at their best though, and Neil Lennon will be looking for his side to pick up their form in the coming weeks having only just returned from international duty.

Hamilton also handed a start to 19-year-old midfielder Smith, giving him the full 90 minutes in just his 13th senior appearance for the club.

Smith has already scored twice this season and again showed glimpses of his potential against Celtic, leading to praise from boss Rice.

Rice suggested that Smith is in a similar place to where Celtic star Ryan Christie was at Inverness, believing they’re similar players.

Because of that, Rice has told Smith to study clips of Christie in order to try and develop his game in a similar way, which is a huge compliment to the Bhoys star, who has been in blistering form so far this season.

“Right now Lewis is where Ryan is when he was at Inverness,” said Rice. “Ryan’s very similar to young Lewis and I’ve told Lewis to look at his clips, how he receives the ball, everything he does. He’s a joy to work with but it is down to him. I can give him the platform but he has to perform on it. I thought he did very well today,” he added.
